The mission of the Moore County Planning and Community Development Department is to plan for growth and to protect the rights, health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of Moore County through long range planning and enforcement development-related ordinances.  Major responsibilities include zoning administration, floodplain management, permitting, land subdivisions, and inspections to insure compliance with the North Carolina Building and Fire Code.  Other projects administered by the department include community development activities and long range planning to ensure the long-term sustainability of Moore County.  The department also serves as staff to three advisory boards; the Moore County Planning Board, Subdivision Review Board and Board of Adjustment.

Item 1: General Use Rezoning - ParID# 00011634. Request by planning staff to rezone the entire property located at the intersection of NC Hwy 24/27 and Mount Carmel Road from Rural Agricultural (RA) to Highway Commercial (B-2). - APPROVED 1/20/2015

 

 

Item 2: Text Amendment - Request by Smith Moore Leatherwood, LLP to amend Section 9.3.2702 of the County's Unified Development Ordinance as follows:  Facilities shall be restricted to locations within three (3) miles of an existing or proposed electrical substation that can accommodate the proposed electrical production unless certification by a utility supplied engineer, from the utility with which the applicant has an interconnection agreement, establishes that voltage regulators or other devices are present allowing safe, efficient transmission of power over a greater distance. - APPROVED 1/20/2015
