Administration: One employee completes the duties of customer service, purchasing, personnel and general administration.
Waste Collection Section: Three employees, which includes 1 Collections Supervisor, and 2 truck drivers, in addition to 32 resource compactor opeators with skills and knowledge required for the daily organized collection of solid waster and recyclable materials.
The County currently has 7 staffed container sites with compactors including Cameron, Carthage, Eagle Springs, Landfill (located in Aberdeen), Midway, Robbins, and West End/Seven Lakes. The landfill gate has open top containers only.
Recycling containers are provided at these sites for items such as aluminum cans, cardboard, glass, newspapers, magazines, mixed paper, plastic, white goods (washer, dryers, stoves, refrigerater, freezers) and other scrap metal. A collection site for oil and auto batteries is provided at the Carthage Site.
Landfill Division: The Landfill Division has 5 full time positions and is located at 456 Turning Leaf Way in Aberdeen, NC 28315 and can be reached at 910-295-4202.
Landfill employees include a supervisor, heavy equipment operators and weigh masters with the skills and knowledge required for the daily operation of the Construction and Demolition Landfill, Yard Waste Facility, and the collection sites for special waste such as scrap tires and white goods. This section also assists with off-site projects, which require the use of heavy equipment.
Following closure of the County's Sanitary Landfill, all municipal solid waste is routed through the Moore County Transfer Station, owned and operated by Uwharrie Environmental, Inc. and transported for disposal in a lined high tech, Sub-title D Landfill facility in Montgomery County.
