The following are the projects underway by the Moore County Planning and Community Development Department.
PROJECT LIST AND DESCRIPTIONS
Comprehensive Transportation Plan

Overview
Although a schedule has not been established or put in place the North Carolina Department of Transportation has notified Planning and Community Development staff that the process of creating a Comprehensive Transportation Plan for Moore County will begin in mid-summer 2010.

Develop a Working Lands Protection Plan for Moore County of Moore
|
|
Overview
Address issues facing local farmers while ensuring the future growth of the industry in Moore County. This project is being facilitated by the BRAC program for all eleven (11) counties in the region, the adoption and implementation of which will occur separately at the local level.

Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)
|
|
Overview
The Planning Department in conjunction with consulting expertise will begin drafting a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) for Moore County to serve as a comprehensive tool that will help citizens and developers navigate through Moore County’s zoning regulations and other land use codes. The UDO will predominately involve the rearrangement of existing language within the confines of the ordinance and will not result in new regulations however specific language may need to be changed to reduce redundancy or to clarify current inconsistencies within the ordinance.

Land Use Plan Update

Overview
The Planning Department will begin a project aimed at updating the existing Moore County Land Use Plan adopted in 1999 with specific attention paid to strategies to develop a master water and sewer solution in collaboration with Moore County Public Utilities and in coordination with Moore County Schools with an emphasis on future school construction needs.
