Meetings are held at the Senior Enrichment Center, located at 8040 US Hwy 15-501, two miles north of the traffic circle. Meetings are scheduled monthly on the 4th Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The Chairperson may call meetings as needed.
Council advises the Moore County Aging Director on planning activities as they relate to older persons in the County, advises the Director on implementation of service programs and activities as they relate to older persons in the County and acts as an advocacy group on all matters concerning the elderly population in Moore County.
The Council shall be composed of:
1). More than 50% who are 60 years and over, including:
a). Older persons with greatest economic or social need;
b). Participants of Title III (Older Americans Act) programs;
2). Representatives of older persons from the community and business;
3). Local elected officials
There shall be up to fifteen (15) voting members of the Council appointed by the County Commissioners for a term of three years from their appointment date.
Members of the Council may be reappointed. After three unexcused absences from the Council meeting, a Council member shall be terminated. An excused absent voting member shall submit in writing his or her vote on the issue from the Council agenda.
New members shall receive sufficient orientation to acquaint them with the nature and purpose of the Moore County Department of Aging and the role of the Advisory Council, and what will be expected of them as members.
